Firefly is Whedon the next big hit television series. She must have left an indelible impression because this single episode was the catalyst for her becoming an acclaimed actress. Summer Glau's River Tam was a complicated character which Glau managed with ease. Tam, as the character from the film was called, was subjected to government experiments that were designed to help her become a successful assassin. Tam's emotional control was removed in direct consequence. Glau's fighting skills were also demonstrated in the show Firefly. Glau could fully utilize her athletic abilities since she was preparing to be an assassin. Summer Glau is a classically educated ballerina. Her broken toe marked the final straw for her as an actress. Firefly was a one-off show however it was an enormous success. Whedon came back to it many years later. Summer Glau kept on getting some good work. Summer Glau appeared in TV series including Cold Case, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.
